  Early Life and Ed ucation: Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in computers and technology. At just 12 years old, he taught himself to code and sold his first software, a space-themed game called Blastar. Musk's entrepreneurial spirit was evident even then. After completing high school, Musk left South Africa to pursue further education in the United States. He attended Queen's University in Canada for two years before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. In 1995, he graduated with degrees in physics and economics. Musk's entrepreneurial journey began in the mid-1990s when he co-founded Zip2, a web software company that provided business directories and maps for newspapers. In 1999, Compaq acquired Zip2 for nearly $300 million, earning Musk his first major success. With the proceeds from the Zip2 sale, Musk co-founded X.com, an online payment company. X.com later merged with Confinity
